In China, instead of asking your age, people may ask you questions like "What do you belong to?" Don't ever think that you are expected to answer like "I belong to the US". You are supposed to belong to one of twelve animals! (Those are Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Boar.) It is not that weird as you have to follow the order of a rat or a tiger. That is Chinese Zodiac. The Chinese Zodiac is based on a twelve year cycle - each year being represented by an animal that imparts distinct characteristics to its year. Many Chinese believe that the year of a person's birth is the primary factor in determining that person's personality traits, physical and mental attributes and degree of success and happiness throughout his lifetime. Actually, in China, this is just an alternative way to say how old you are.

RAT (1912, 1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996)
Gregarious, intelligent, and polite, the Rat has an ever-widening social circle.

OX (1913, 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997)
Honest, placid, and considerate, the Ox ponders the angles of every situation. It is a steady, reliable, and sincere creature, always faithful and devoted in its emotional affairs.

TIGER (1914, 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998)
Competitive, optimistic, and always stimulated by a challenge, the Tiger is a natural leader.

RABBIT (1915, 1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999)
Tranquil, generous, and imaginative, the Rabbit is happiest when it is in harmony with its environment. It loves to be pampered and adored, and does its best to sustain peaceful relationships.

DRAGON (1916, 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000)
Strong, energetic, and impressive, the Dragon never lacks for friends or admirers. A charming and charismatic creature, it derives great enjoyment from its emotional relationships.

SNAKE (1917, 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001)
Elegant, refined, and confident, the Snake is drawn to debate and investigation.

HORSE (1918, 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002)
Gregarious, eloquent, and loyal, the Horse attracts many friends, and blossoms in a crowd.

SHEEP (1919, 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003)
Gentle, amiable, and sensitive, the Sheep appreciates the fine and creative things in life. Ruled by its sympathies and feelings, it is willing to give everything, especially its heart.

ROOSTER (1921, 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005)
Frank, courageous, and excellent company, the Rooster openly indulges in the good things in life.

DOG (1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006)
Candid, honest, generous, righteous, studious and energetic, the Dog makes it easy for them to attract the favor of the opposite sex.

BOAR (1923, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007)
